Trek Enduro Series, Season 2013
The Enduro season 2013 is ON! We now got Trek as our new title sponsor for this season and also Fillariosa.fi, SRAM, Fox Head and Switchbacks Enduro are helping us this year to make our races even better than last year. From this site and the forums and magazines you might have seen how Enduro is growing fast, both here in Finland and also all around the world, and now the emerging Enduro World Series is giving the discipline the “Officialisation” among big crowds.
EBA (Extreme Bike Association) is going to provide you once again the best riding days of the season by arranging the Trek Enduro 2013 Series, consisting of five different championship races and couple other races. Format of the races is going to be pretty much the same as last year, also timing system will continue with the wireless EMIT system that proved itself great on last years series.
Season starts at Calpis Bike Park with a Warm-up race in beginning of May. First official race is going to take place in the end of May and the season finale will take place in a new venue for Enduro, Tahko, in mid September. Familiar locations from last year, Ounasvaara and Laajavuori are also in the calendar for this year. In July we head to Åre Sweden, to have first combined Scandinavian Enduro event (will we see a Scandinavian enduro series in future, who knows..?). There will also be couple races that are not part of the championship series, but otherwise races will be similar. Also cooperation with Pivot Cup, a series of more traditional Finnish “flat land enduro”, will stay strong, with cooperative race at Laajavuori.
2012 was the first year with new, wireless EMIT timing system, which we will continue to use during season 2013. System works with timing chip attached with velcro to right side of your handlebar, and start and finish gates will have a timing beacon, which will give timestamp to the timing chip when passing the gate. All timing devices are included in the entry fee, so riders don’t have to worry about that.
EBA wants to offer some benefit for the most active riders, so for this season you can buy a season pass which will cover entry fees for all five races of the Trek Enduro Series 2013. The price for the season pass is 170€, so even if you miss one race you will still benefit from the pass. If you plan to participate in all races, it’s a good deal. If you suffer an injury or other emergency and you are unable to attend to some races, EBA will refund you 30€ per missed race, against official (medical) proof.
Races on the Trek Enduro Series 2013 series will be similar to last years races, so riding technique and endurance is going to be needed, if you desire to be on the podium. There surely will be challenge for everyone, regardless of age, sex, fitness, riding skills or bike setup. So it is up to the rider preferences whether he/she wants just to cruise through the stages and enjoy the trails, or smash hard out of the saddle with breathing your lungs out. To participate you don’t have to be a HC racer or super skilled rider, everyone can attend. For newcomers and people who just want to enjoy the trails, atmosphere and challenge themselves, there is Hobby category available, which will be lighter in form of fewer stages and pedal/push transitions. No license is required for any category. We welcome you to the events and please ask your friends also to come and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
